Edith Weston Video Now Available

Winner of the Best Overall Production Award

Seven hundred people turned up to the charity evening dance at Edith Weston this Summer. Sovereign Videos recorded it: this is what they have to say ...

THE GOOD OLD DAYS, 1940,s - DVD, Award Winner 72 mins of music & nostalgia as you visit the Edith Weston Vintage Fayre and turn back the clock into the 1940s. Men, Ladies & children came wearing 1940s dress, uniforms were proudly worn by the British, Americans & German troops, not forgetting Winston Churchill and his Cabinet Officers & the village bobby. Children danced around the village maypole and we watched as three Battle of Britain warplanes put in an appearance. The atmosphere of the forties was enjoyed by all as everyone sang along to songs by 'Annie' the Vera Lynn sound a like. Many other attractions reliving the memories of the forties include, Classic vintage & steam cars, Steam & Stationery engines, a working portable flour mill, Vintage horticultural & garden machinery, Fairground organs, Military vehicles and displays, vintage tractors, pedal cycles and motor bikes & craft stalls. The production ends with everyone attending The Dance, 'Yanks' danced with WAAF'S, Germans with ATS girls as everyone danced and sang the night away to the Ockbrook Big Band as they played the familiar Glen Miller legends. This is a wonderfull chance to relive the sounds and memories of the forties in the comfort of your home, it won't be long before you are foot tapping & singing along too. Highly Recommended.

More tributes to the Ockbrook Big Band

Here are some more comments from people who have booked the band recently. This also reminds us just how busy we have been.

a big thank you for Nick's 40th party. The letters we have had have been unbelievable - best party ever, they will never forget it, how can anybody match that one!! A massive thank you to you and the gang for making the evening such a success. I have already passed your number onto one friend who wants to book you for her husbands 50th!!
Thanks again Glenn and hopefully we shall see you at another bash in the not so distant future.
[40th birthday party ... and we are booked for their friend's 50th, so thank you for the recommendation]

On the Saturday Tattershall Village Hall also opened its doors with a 1940s dance courtesy of the Ockbrook Big Band. This proved so popular half the stage had to be dismantled to make room for extra seating.

Massive, Massive thanks from myself and the organising team. You guys were absolutely the business and kept the evening going ... The messages of thanks I have received about you and the band have been fantastic and the big question is are we doing it again next year and are the Ockbrooks coming ?? The answer is a resounding yes !!! ... and I'll let you know as soon as we have set a date. Just wished I could have had more time to get up and dance. Please pass on my thanks to all the guys in the band, we were so lucky to have you with us for both nights.
[organiser of The Victory Show, Foxlands Farm, Cosby with well over 1000 people attending the dinner dances and he has booked us again]

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.
Alison and I had an absolutely fantastic joint 40th birthday party and can't thank the Ockbrook Big Band enough for making the party such a success. We both went home sober but very happy even if we did have very achey feet from all the dancing. Who would have thought that hitting middle age could be such fun?! Everyone thought the band was fantastic and wanted to know why you haven't got a CD available. Hot Toddy is one of my favourites so I was thrilled when you played that. I shall certainly be popping down to Ocbrook again to hear you.
We loved every minute. Again, a BIG, BIG THANKYOU TO YOU ALL.

Victoria and I just got home from our honeymoon...we wanted to say a huge THANK YOU for putting on such a superb show for our wedding - we had the best day of our lives and your contribution to that was significant. I hope it was obvious from the our reaction and the reaction of the guests how well you guys went down on the night!! We were nearly steam-rollered off the floor at the start of the second dance!!
If its possible to get a play list of what you went through on the night we'd very much appreciate it.
Once again, a huge and sincere thank you for a brilliant evening, and we both hope to catch another show in the future.
Best regards,
Martin and Victoria.

Great, smashing, fantastic! ... my greatest regret is that the punters didn't get to hear more of you and Steve, because it was hugely entertaining and they loved it ... I will certainly use OBB again at a similar event and have always known I can recommend you with confidence.
Thanks for all your help

The feedback even thus far has been great - you guys are consumate professionals. I run an events production company (although you'd never guess it from the running around I was doing last night!) and we'd certainly consider having you chaps in for corporate work.
Take care and thanks for making it so easy to work with you.

We are pleased you enjoyed Picnic, we certainly did and the crowds were the biggest we have ever experienced. We had lots of comments about the band and that you weren't on long enough!

A big Thank you to all of you for making our party so special. Everyone was raving about the band and personally, it was everything that I had hoped for. We have been racking our brains at how we can invite you all back prior to my 50th Birthday Party !!!
The U.S Uniforms were fabulous and the way you MC'd the event was much appreciated. If you could kindly email us a list of your public engagements we would both love to try and get over to see the band under slightly less chaotic circumstances - and perhaps have a pint with you all.
[Record producer's 40th birthday party]

Good morning Glenn, Could you please pass on my sincere thanks to your band.
They were as brillant as ever and no end of people said how good you all were.
I cannot thank you enough for giving up your own time and effort, for someone you had never even met until recently. You were all very smart, and you certainly made the evening light up. All my thanks again, and i am sure you will continue being the best band ever for a very long time.[Organiser of Tsunami Appeal Charity Concert at Derby Pride Park]
