Happy New Year from ..
... the most entertaining band in the Midlands. We play Big Band and swing music for concerts or dancing.
Our range of venues is continuing to grow. The "Where we've been" map has half a dozen new entries as widely spread as Yorkshire, Staffordshire and Leicestershire and including everything from Grand Country Mansions and aircraft hangers to school halls, pubs and clubs. All great fun to play at - since the audience makes the event a pleasure for the band and the band aims to please the audience.
We think we get it right - some venues have re-booked us more than ten times and if you look through our past bookings you will see that we are invited back to most of our public events year after year.
You played for our diamond wedding party last Friday and we just wanted to say a big thankyou for helping to make our
night fantastic. We have had a lot of feedback from our family and friends who all thought the band was brilliant.
Its nice to listen to a live band and even the younger ones at the party enjoyed every minute.
Thanks again.
[Derek and Jean, November 2011]
Another sell out for both nights. A great show, thank you ...

and there was someone with a video camera at our gig in Rothwell.
If you like Count Basie, Glenn Miller, Woody Herman, Cole Porter, Earle Hagen, Jerome Kern, Duke Ellington and Artie Shaw then we are the band for you. Throw in more great dance tunes from the 50s and 60s and you are in for a wonderful night's entertainment. Add Frank Sinatra and Frankie Layne songs from Colin add Ella Fitzgerald and Nora Jones songs from Michele and who could ask for anything more?
We hope you can get to some of our events. Sunday evening concerts at the Royal Oak in Ockbrook are free. We play most Sundays unless we have are playing at Nunsfield House or are resting from a late Saturday night.
Dances at Nunsfield House cost £4.00 at the door or splash out on a whole day of 1940s nostalgia with dinner and dancing to the Ockbrook Big Band at the Victory Show in Cosby.
We are appearing at themed events at Buxton Dome, Rothwell and the delightful village of Edith Weston.
We are also at The Derby Beer Festival,
Picnic in The Park, Heather Music Festival and Nottingham Old Market Square.
For a full list of events look at our Events Page.
The Ockbrook Big Band will go to great lengths to make sure your event goes well. Here is Michele Humphries kitted out with coordinated wellies for Edith Weston's 1940s dance which in true British fashion was preceded by heavy rain. The event was a tremendous success and there was a large turn out of enthusiastic dancers.
